They are masters of controlling roasting time and temperature so this Neapolitan - style espresso blend tickles all your senses with pleasure. Classica's aroma, smooth feel, taste and beauty must be experienced. In this blend our coffee masters merge five premium coffee beans into a unified symphony. They uncover the nuances produced on selected Brazilian, Central American and Indonesian plantations. The nut-brown colour, creamy consistency and pleasant coffee-saturated aroma that results is quintessential Neapolitan coffee.

Only three people in the world know how to achieve the right harmony of the blend. Pronounced chocolate and nutty notes emphasize this extraordinary taste. It is a pure expression of the popular Neapolitan-style espresso. The Barbera family business is the oldest coffee producer in Italy with a tradition dating back to 1870. To this day, it is the holder of the Italian Order of Knighthood for Work, awarded by the Italian King Victor Emmanuel II. precisely for the art of coffee roasting.

CLASSICA - coffee beans- 1kg

This is another of our special blends known only to three of Caffé Barbera's master coffee blenders. We select 4 beans from Brazil and Indonesia to attain the unique flavour of Hesperia. Then we preserve the subtle nuances by carefully and patiently roasting each coffee bean one by one to just the right stage and temperature. And like our other coffees, we reduce the loss of flavour by cooling our beans rapidly with cool air. This ensures that when Hesperia arrives at your door, it is rich in all the aroma truly delightful coffee always delivers. Hesperia will become a daily favourite for the pleasure it gives all your senses.

Barbera Hesperia - For all fans of a particularly rich crema

The Barbera Hesperia pays homage to the Neapolitan espresso tradition, which favors dark-roasted coffees with a particularly pronounced body. The Hesperia combines four green coffees from Brazil and Indonesia to create the typical Neapolitan taste experience. Thanks to the high Robusta content of 60%, the Barbera Hesperia delights with a pronounced dark chocolate note and nutty aromas. When extracted in an espresso machine or fully automatic coffee maker, the Barbera Hesperia espresso displays a particularly pronounced crema.

Evenly roasted green coffee beans attest to the highest roasting quality.

As with all Barbera espressos, the Hesperia also exhibits a uniformly roasted appearance. The dark, glossy beans correspond to the Light French roast level. They are gently and slowly roasted at a maximum temperature of 240°C in Barbera's two drum roasters. The flavor is almost entirely attributable to the quality of the roast and exhibits bittersweet aromas.

Our conclusion: A full-bodied espresso that is particularly suitable for fans of strong espressos with a high Robusta content.

Preparation tip: Dark roasts can tolerate slightly higher temperatures than the quasi-standard of 92°C. With the Hesperia from Caffè Barbera, feel free to experiment with the brewing temperature up to 95°C.

Since 1870Six generations. The oldest working roastery in all of Italy. A long tradition that for almost 150 years has painstakingly guaranteed the highest quality coffee, by following ancient family recipes reverently passed down from one generation to the next. Each cup of Barbera coffee attests to the entire history of one family, and their unique love of coffee. That’s why our exceptional coffee blends possess an unrivalled aroma and taste. Did you know that Caffè Barbera still follows a 150-year-old tradition every New Year? During the first annual coffee bean roast a bottle of champagne is poured into the blend, and the resulting coffee is shared between all workers and colleagues. This is meant bring good luck to everyone for the rest of the year. Now that’s tradition! .

At the plantTo guarantee our high quality blends Caffè Barbera carefully selects the most prized varieties of coffee beans from producers in Brazil, India, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras. For over three generations all our coffee beans have been directly sourced, and we are proud to have built successful long-term relationships with local producers. Additionally, before being roasted, all varieties of coffee bean are individually analysed and assessed in a meticulous process to make sure they match our specific criteria. Caffè Barbera’s 150 years of experience allows us to recognise the unique characteristics of each type of coffee bean and select only the very best, an essential skill when it comes to creating the perfect blend.

The art of roastingThe attention that Caffè Barbera pays to the roasting process is indicative of the uncommon craft required to produce a product of the highest quality. First each individual variety of coffee bean is separately slow roasted for 12 to 16 minutes, which exalts and protects its unique natural characteristics. All roasting takes place in Naples, the mythical land of the espresso, where our two vintage roasting machines from 1967 and 1969 are still used. A third generation master-roaster attentively oversees the whole process. After the roasting is finished, the beans are air-cooled (never with water) causing internal aromatic substances present in the coffee beans to condense. Caffè Barbera does not store or package the coffee beans immediately after cooling, but rather gives them time to mature in controlled temperatures, so as to balance the natural layers of oils and fats that form the rich aroma and flavour of coffee. Each individual step requires the dedicated attention and expertise that can only come from almost 150 years of tradition.

The Superior BlendsNo single variety of coffee bean can create, by itself, the perfect espresso. So in order to bestow our blends with a precise balance of taste, aroma, and texture we take different varieties of Arabica and Robusta, separately slow roast them, and then blend them using an ancient family recipe. Our master blenders follow a method that has been passed down from one generation of the Barbera family to the next since 1870. In fact the precise way we create our special Barbera blend remains a highly protected secret, and as of today only three people in the entire world know it.

Contributions to the coffee industryAs a recognized expert in coffee science, Carmelo Barbera published a definitive book on coffee roasting: “From the Bean to the Consumer”. His research was also published in various English food science journals. Moreover Carmelo Barbera published articles such as: “Gas-Volumetric Method for the Determination of the Internal Non-Odorous Atmosphere of Coffee Beans and Identification of Cystine, Methionine and Proline in Raw and Roasted Coffee” in peer reviewed journals. In 1994, Enrico Barbera spoke, as one of the keynote speakers at Costa Rica’s Sintercafé VIII, on how to overcome a problem that has long troubled the coffee industry: how to overcome the decline of sales during summer? This was a high-profile acknowledgement of Caffè Barbera’s success, beginning in the 1960s, developing summer-focused coffee blends and coffee products. Caffè Barbera continues to be an industry leader of this market segment today.

Camardo’s story begins in 1948, spanning four generations. In the post-war period, during his journey to South America, Grandfather Bartolomeo Camardo becomes interested in coffee culture. Full of enthusiasm and passion, he gets back to Italy and opens a coffee shop in Campo Marzio street in Rome. But he dreams of going back to his homeland: the Molise region, in Southern Italy, with the aim of creating a future for his family and his land.

In 1951 Bartolomeo Camardo opens his first small coffe-roasting boutique in Campobasso. He is given as a present a picture of the Goddess of Fortune, symbolizing good omen since ancient times, and it becomes the icon of Camardo Coffee. Campobasso, Bartolomeo’s hometown is enchanted by the aroma of freshly roasted coffee…

The Camardo Company is a pioneer in coffee exportation abroad reaching markets in Australia, Canada and the United States.

From its birth the coffee bean plays the leading role in our high quality control system, beginning with the selection of the green coffee beans and concluding with the selling of the product. For more than 50 years we have assured quality in every single phase of production. Company procedures are monitored daily for research and study of new products as we reach towards our primary goal: the complete satisfaction of our clients. This continual striving for excellence has rewarded us with the Certificate of High Quality ISO 9001.

A delicate process of renovation of the corporate’s image begins by restyling the company’s trademark and packaging aimed more towards an international clientele.

Camardo’s manufacturing plant is situated in Campobasso/Ripalimosani and spans across 15,000 square meters, 10,000 of which are covered. There are 8 production lines for packaging, allowing us to manufacture over 2,000 tons of coffee each year.

70% of the production is destined for the HO.RE.CA. sector, while the remaining 30% is ground and packed for retail or into pods and capsules.

We are proud to provide our customers with four generations of tradition and experience combined with the latest manufacturing equipment.

Camardo’s package designs are innovative, attractive, and highly functional and made with high quality materials.

We have distinguished every pack with different colours, provided them with freshness and aroma saver valves and text translated in 14 languages.

This continual striving for excellence has rewarded us with the Certificate of High Quality ISO 9001.

The Camardo mission is to produce a coffee of excellent quality and to promote the culture of espresso as a way to enjoy life. After quality coffee beans are obtained, the most important phase of the production of coffee begins the roasting and the blending. A good roaster must be part artist, and part scientist, to maintain quality and consistency. It is during the roasting process that the sugars and other carbohydrates within the bean become caramelized, creating a substance which is known as the coffee oil. Technically, this fragile chemical is not actually an oil (since it is water soluble), but it is what gives the coffee its flavor and aroma.

At Caffè Camardo we use drum roasting machines to roast the coffee beans as they tumble in a rotating drum that is typically heated by gas. Caffè Camardo is heated only with hot air, so not to tamper with the texture of our coffee, allow us to preserve a zero level of humidity. This is important, as any level of humidity will damage the coffee and accelerate its aging.

When the desired roast is achieved, the beans are poured into a cooling hopper to keep them from overcooking.  One of the most fundamental rules to a true espresso is use the right coffee. Caffè Camardo is the true espresso.
